Cheap Vegas tourneys
 

Im going from a Thursday through a Sunday, and I want to play some cheap NL tourneys. (Im normally a limit poker player.) Who runs a good, low key cheapo tourney?

I played in the sahara one over the summer. it was a good time but I'm sure they rip you off on the vig.

Every low stake tourney in Vegas will rip you off on the vig, but it isn't really the point. None of the low stake tourneys can be beat in the long run however. But he is looking for short run fun/experience. Sahara is the best bet for low stakes. Going up a little you have Harrah's, and if you run well and want to spend the money, I really reccommend Wynn $300+30. This is a tourney that can be beaten with very fair vig and has an insanely good blind structure.

The tourneys at Paris and Bally's take very little out for the house. They have 3 different ones, all no limit freezeouts. $50 +5 at Bally's, $60 + 5 and $100 + 10 at Paris. That is an insanely low percentage going to the house I think. They only run Mon - Fri though.

I am not sure about the ones you have mentioned, but you have to be very careful as the casinos usually try to deceive you and think you are paying less than you actually are. I wrote a reply on this a while back in a lengthy Vegas tourney report. I haven't played the low stakes ones in so long I can't remember the specifics of what they do. Stupid pot. Just make sure you read the small print at the bottom of the tourney structure pages.

Remember that rebuy tourneys give you a lower effective vig than freezouts. Most casinos don't take a vig on rebuys, so the percentage of the prize pool taken out is lower.

That sucks. But the Bally's/Paris ones take not a penny more than listed.

The Paris / Bally's tourneys pay back really good % by Vegas standards. Around 90% for low buy-in tourneys in Vegas really can not be beat.

I played the 8pm tournament at the stratosphere last time I was in vegas. $40+$6 with one rebuy and add-on. Got about 40 entrants on a Friday night. Not a bad option at all if you don't mind going that far down the strip, as it is actually played at a time that you might have got out of bed by. And they have Newky Brown, which makes for a more interesting drink than you get at most of the cheaper casinos on the strip.

why and how do the casino's take a vig? I always thought the +25 of the $200+25 was the house's take. Don't get me wrong...that's still 12.5% of the prize pool, but they don't take anything above the "entry fee" do they?
