IT environments bigger than Party?

A bunch of my computer sales friends and I were trying today to think of an IT environment bigger than Party.

We couldn't think of any company anywhere that ran 40,000 concurrent user sessions.

I've sold lots of technology to Fortune 100 firms, and never seen anything close to that user count.

I'm just computer sales scum, and don't really know. So what are some examples?

Sabre, maybe?

Thanks.

50,000 concurrent connections is nothing in the internet world

Blizzard. They make online games like Warcaft II and III and Diablo II. You play the game on battle.net. They usually have about 200k people on at the same time and they have upwards of 400k.

I work for a Fortune 500 company that runs IBM's Transaction Processing Facility on mainframes, think airline reservation databases (e.g. SABRE, Galileo, Worldspan, Amadeus), credit card authorization (Visa, MC) etc. Message rates (and thus database I/O) in the thousands per second. PP is a zit on a gnat's butt compared to the transaction rates sustained in that environment.

A lot of this is e-commerce driven.

We all have the same, ah.... problems... as the poker sites. We just invest the $$$ in network infrastructure to have the DDOS attacks mitigated. After all, we're talking real money here, not a buck rake per table per 30 seconds. My particular system generates $70,000 per minute in revenue.

Are these people nuts? They are wasting their money playing that crap when they could be losing it to me instead?

Most of those players are under the age of 18. But you don't want some of these guys to learn poker, they're strategy genuius's. I found a couple of old war2 players on pokerstars that I used to play with 4 years ago and they're pretty damn good at poker now.
