tough AK hand...

villain in this hand is a semi thinking player. he hasnt done anything out of line in the 30 or so hands weve played. he is really nothing special just not a supa donk...

50nl 6max
effective stack 60
dealt to hero A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] in CO

pre flop- all fold to hero, hero raises to 2, Button calls, all else fold...

flop (4.75)- A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
hero bets 4.5, villain calls...

turn (13.75)- 10 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
hero...

i know what i did, and i don't think i like it. what is your plan for the rest of the hand...

Check. I'm not putting any more money into this pot.

Even though it sucks, I like check/fold too.

If he checks I may block the river, but meh I dunno.

I find that a check here by villain usually means a very strong hand, and my block bets always seem to get raised. If he checks the turn, I usually now check/call a moderate river.

I agree with Malachi, but do you have a call on river if villain leads for anywhere between $1-$5??

Re: tough AK hand...

bet 10. If he raises, I fold, if he calls, I check/call or check/fold the river, depending on what it is, and how big he bets the river.

Good point.

I just assumed the players at 50 NL are going to be quite a bit more loose passive than at 200/400 NL. Figured to get some value out of one pair against stuff they'd check behind if the chances of them bluffing are quite low when checked to.

Well look at it this way, you are ahead of AQ and almost nothing else that is in this hand. Any resistance from villain and you are likely beaten, maybe chopping.

Dunno about that...the guy could easy have KJ, K10, K9,K8 QJ, Q10, Q9, Q8. Of course he could also have any of the hands that beat you too hehe. There are alot of hands that will call you that you might have beat. However, there aren't many that will raise you.
