47k in pot, giga leads for like 40k....antonius makes it 400k more, yeah its a pretty huge overbet.

We don't know darrell's image or patrik's image (though I have heard that Patrik is one of those Scandinavian laggish mofos), so it is a little hard to stick PA on a hand range given the flop push. However, logic would say he either had a big draw or a pair plus draw, something weak @ SD but with huge FE on the flop.

I bet KJs was about the best hand DD was expecting to see, no?

so whats the verdict? GigaDonk or GigaGenius?

post flop i think its a good call. preflop who knows what was going on with the dynamics between the two of them.

Based on the recap, looked simply like a typical steal/resteal type of situation, where Giga was probably getting plenty of odds to go ahead and see a flop.

As for the flop play, image and that stuff doesn't matter at all. The only thing he really has to answer is if Patrick will play a set in that manner. Still takes guts to call though.

Suppose Patrick had flopped a set? Seems to me like a good move might be to overbet with a monster in this situation against a thinking opponent, especially if you think your opponent likes his hand (knowing gig's bet amount here might help). Or is this move -eV in the long run? Even if so, doing it every now and then for metagame value couldn't possibly hurt.

For Gigabet, I bet the decision to call comes down more to the odds Patrick actually flopped a set than the way he's playing it. And the odds are very low considering Gig flopped 2p and Patrick *apparently* didn't push back very hard with a vulnerable hand like JJ preflop (w/o knowing the preflop raise amts).

And you can almost certainly eliminate J7, J5 given the preflop action. So Gig had to have him very likely on a flush draw+. Man what a gutsy call in that position in the tourney.

Re: Gigabet making a run at Bellagio ME

Doesn't seem that gutsy to me... That scandanavian is a LAG, or so people say, and coulda been reraising with a lot of hands. One hand beats him: JJ, 55 and 77 are too unlikely. I think this is a very very easy call post flop. I wish I knew what the positions of the players were preflop to maybe understand if Gig's raise was from the button (making the reraising range even bigger) or if Gig was doing this from an earlier spot.

Give him tonight or maybe a day or two, he'll probably tell us what he was thinking. Gig is usually cool about talking about his tourney hands. Then we can have the full picture.
