Tin foil hats really work

For months I had a problem where my internet connection would drop momentarily every time I used my 2.4 GHz cordless phone. Everything is wired directly, nothing even has wireless capability at all. I tried bypassing the router, using only my laptop, etc., all with the same problem. I can't move things farther apart because of the wiring.

Finally, I took a foil broiling pan from the kitchen, placed it between the cable modem and the phone, and made a call. No drop out at all! So now my cable modem is wearing a tin foil hat to keep the evil mind control rays out, and it works great.

Try checking what frequncy the phone is on, then changing it in the router to something else.

Yeah, nothing against Tim.

I just had to find a thread with no replies to try out that pic.

No wireless, no router, same problem. I had the problem even with cable modem directly wired to computer. Weirdest thing I ever saw. If it wasn't for the fact that the length of the adaptor wires and cable line force them to be only a few feet apart, I could have tried moving them farther apart.

No, unfortunately.

Some larger ones here.

The only possible explanation that I can think of is the phone is releasing EM radiation that happens to be at the same resonance frequency as some of the electronics in the cable modem. The tin foil hat is acting like a faraday cage.

Second thought.... is your cable line grounded???? If it isn't it might be acting like an antenna and the foil is completing the grounding circuit. Good luck experimenting!
