sitting down

what's a good amount to buy in at a 5/10 game online...I usually try to sit down with 250 or 200 but I see a multitude of idiots sit down with 100 that's just crazy. The reality of sitting down with 300BB is not really realistic considering my bankroll...and who sits down at a table and asks for $3000 in chips?

25-50BB is what you should sit with.

25x BB, so $250

300BB is the recommendation for your TOTAL bankroll (minimum) not the amount you sit with.

250 is usually the standard online

Does sitting down with a small stack tend to make some others think your fishy and garner you more action?

Does sitting down with a huge stack make some others think your a good player and garner you more respect?

I tend to think that people who sit with double buy-ins (at Party), i.e. 50 BB, are there to gamb00l it up. This is not always the case though, and I do recognize the people who are not idiots and do it on a regular basis. I usually make notes of them so I can tell when they are up or down.

I also love to see someone sit at a 15/30 game with say $328.59. You just know that's all the money they have and ther're just trying to make a run at the higher limits to try and get lucky.
