$11: AK Facing overbet on the bubble...

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t150 (4 handed) converter

Hero (t4230)
UTG (t1495)
Button (t4095)
SB (t3680)

Preflop: Hero is BB with A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
UTG calls t150, Button calls t150, SB raises to t3680, Hero??

No real reads on Villain. He hasn't made a play like this yet.

You have a small edge here I think, but no reason to blow most of your stack on it when you have one guy <10BB. Just type "nh" and move on.

Part of AK's strength is the ability to raise strong with it PF and the accompanying fold equity. Not the case in this hand. Here you are either better or you're not. Since you have plenty of BB's to work with I feel comfortable folding here.

Hero folds. With your big stack and the short stack there, I think this is an easy laydown. I'm only calling here with QQ,KK,AA and probably JJ.

Why would you call? He'd have to be pretty terrible to push a hand that you beat here.

1. It's the bubble. Most $11 players are just psyched to have a chance to make some money.

2. The guy hasn't done anything like this yet. So I don't buy the fact that he just sucks and has something like AJs.

Instant call at most levels, especially at the 11's.

I call this every time. I see you ahead here a lot of times, the times you are behind it's only by 10%, if you lose you are still in, if you win you are in great position for first.

I would fold here for sure, calling is quite bad IMO.

Re: $11: AK Facing overbet on the bubble...

You see it with Ax alot, but almost as often with small pairs. I'd say there's almost as good a chance of him having a small pair because at this level alot of players think this is the best way to play them (because of televised poker?). I've seen players push in level1 with 55 or 66.

My point is that alot of the time you're going to be behind here. Fold.
