ordering nexgens tonight... are 500 needed? or do 400 get the job done
 

hey... i am getting new chips and have decided to get the nexgens however i'm trying to figure out if i need 500 or just 400. i mostly play nl tournaments (ten people max but most of the time only 7 or 8). i plan on getting 4 colors (25chip, 100 chip, 500 chip, 1000chip) and i start the tournaments with 3k a person (20-25 chips, 10-100 chips and 3-500 chips, use the 1000 chips for when we are down to 2 or 3 people) with these numbers i don't see a reason to get more then 200-25 chips... 125-100 chips.. 50-500 chips and 25-1k chips... any thoughts? if i were to get 500 what would u do differently?

I'd get 500 no matter how many people play considering they're 20 cents a chip. It's an extra 20 bucks.

P.S. No offense but I'd consider a 3000 starting stack annoyingly big if I were playing, not to be critical but I just figured I'd put in my two cents.
Good luck and let me know how the chips feel when you get them, I'm considering getting a set to dump my "dice" chips.

ya... these are to get rid of my dice chips as well. i agree... most tournametns that seems really big...
however everyone who plays likes to raise blinds quickly... so we raise them every 15 minutes... which causes a need for a larger starting stack...

I usually start between 5000 and 10000 chips and like the deeper stacks and slower structures. It take luck out of the game a bit more and adds in more skill. I'd definitly go for 500 chips.

As long as you're not customizing them, start with 400 if you think that will be enough. Then buy more if you need them.

I was going to recommend this but than the only $20's hit me... looks like shipping 100 would be approx. $10 for UPS ground.. made me change my mind.

Hey...I was in the same boat a few days ago. NL tourney style couple times a month w/ 6-8 mostly max 10 right now. I went ahead and grabbed 750. I know I don't need that many right now, and we'll only start at like 1500TC or so. My main reasoning behind this was plans to grow in the future, I hope to have a couple of tables going at the same time, by this time next year. One other thing was I orderded some labels from Jason, so I kinda wanted it all done and ready. If it's too much, it's too much. For the price, I figured I couldn't beat it. They actually just got here an hour ago. The case is BEAUTIFUL. The mahogony one from 5star. NICE!

Anyway, just my two cents. Hope it helps a little. And hope ya like the chips, I know I will. Can't wait till saturday.

thanks for the advise.. .i think i'm gonna go with 500 and ya... i probably will get another 500 or so in the future when i have two or three tables everyweek... until then if i have a big week i'll have to have a table or two use the crap dice chips
