Absolutely card dead so far. Best hand I've seen is AJ, which I had to fold preflop.

Re: PokerStars Sunday $250K guaranteed

FUNNY hand, ive got 1750 stack.
I get AJs on the button with 25/50 blinds and LP raises to 150.

I call and its heads up.

Flop 345 2 clubs

He checks I bet 200 he calls

turn 9o

He checks I bet 405 he calls

River 4o

He checks I push 1k, he calls and tables A6o.

Funniest double up ever.

Re: PokerStars Sunday $250K guaranteed

Wish I had that luck.

My AK meets up with AA and has a party. I push my last 290 chips an orbit later with A4, that gets beat by a Q9 that makes a straight.

Not doing so well in these so far.

Nick

Roman 10-17-2004 05:32 PM

3225 first break

Some painfully tight play after that AJ double up including folding AJs to a min raise in position, folding 99 vs a 9x push, folding KQ in position with no one entering pot, etc.

12360 at 1st break, not a bad 1st hour

I'm in. 945 at 1st break. Lost half my stack early when my AA got cracked, then doubled back to about even with J10 in the SB that flopped top pair. Have to do better 2nd hour.

Good luck to all 2+2ers.

Just over 2500 after the first break. Picked up TT in the SB, called a MP raise, pushed on a QJ9 flop, fold fold.

I'm going to need some cards pretty soon, though...

I'm out. JJ ran into AA.

GL to everyone still in.

I'm out about 1100th. Couldn't get anything going. Pushed my last 3K with 55 and made a straight but I got called by AQs and he made a flush. Maybe next week

Good luck to 2+2ers!

Blegh!

Out just before 2nd break. My 7's up against 99, both unimproved.

Best of luck to cferejohn. Expect to see you still on top when I check back later.

Doug

Edit PS: Ha! Just noticed this thread was for Stars, not Party, where I was playing. No wonder I did so poorly. I didn't even know where I was.

11630 second break

After losing KJ vs 66 all in, I pushed last 5500 with 44 on button, called by AQ and caught a 4 to double up.

Roman 10-17-2004 06:39 PM

Re: 11630 second break

that was misleading... 66 was a SS and I lost like 2500.

cferejohn 10-17-2004 06:39 PM

2nd break, 3rd place...

624 remaining. Now I'm in 3rd. See, I told you I'd blow it...

Sigh. Told you I'd blow it. Pushed 18K with 1K/2K blinds with AQ, got called by AK. Left me w/ 3K that I pushed UTG with 9Js, lost to A9o. Sigh. That sucked.

Roman 10-17-2004 07:45 PM

17k 4th break

was up to 30k early but lost it all when I became card dead, got JJ once and lost to KK. Aww well, still in the monery though.

In the money now with ~30K

Roman 10-17-2004 08:02 PM

out 160ish

Big hand that got me was pushing A7 on button and getting called by A8 in SB

Re: PokerStars Sunday $250K guaranteed

Tks. Wish I didn't have to push with such a weak hand(A2o), but the blinds were so big I had to try a steal on the button. A spade on the river would have been nice.

Re: PokerStars Sunday $250K guaranteed

Not to hijack this thread or anything, but I'm interested in getting into the MTT segment, how do you guys normally enter these? Buy in? $27 SNGS? $13 2 table SNGs? the FFP tourney? $11 rebuy, what do you find is the best way to enter these 215 and 500 Sunday tourneys...I tried an SNG with no luck and then an $11 rebuy with no luck.

Just wanted to hear everyone's thoughts on the easiest ways to get into these bigger tourneys. Thanks.

Toro 10-17-2004 09:53 PM

Re: PokerStars Sunday $250K guaranteed

I like the $11 re-buy turbo satellite because it's fast. Last week I qualified on one of these and then just on a lark last night tried the 500FPP satellite and qualified again so I have $215 Tourney dollars in the bank. But I doubt if I'll do the 500 FPP Satellite anymore becuase it took forever, like 4 or 5 hours, way too long.

AZK 10-17-2004 10:30 PM

Re: PokerStars Sunday $250K guaranteed

Do you feel you have a better chance of getting a seat in the turbo sat. then at a 1 or 2 table SNG?

Jurollo 10-17-2004 10:51 PM

Re: PokerStars Sunday $250K guaranteed

I think the general consensus is the MTT sats are easier because you can limp in (more than one winner)

Re: PokerStars Sunday $250K guaranteed

I would have to say the Turbo Satellite. I usually play $20 and $30 sngs so winning the $20 wouldn't even do it.

I like the Turbos because they are fast and they give out 20 to 30 seats depending on how many entries and rebuys.

Of course there is an art to these Turbos but after you play a few you'll figure it out.

AZK 10-17-2004 11:39 PM

Re: PokerStars Sunday $250K guaranteed

what exactly is the art?

Toro 10-18-2004 12:27 AM

Re: PokerStars Sunday $250K guaranteed

You just have to be careful to not let yourself get too short stacked when you start getting close to the bubble. When you go all in you want to have enough chips to have folding equity.

Then you got to be able to figure out when you have enough chips that you can just fold into the money.

Re: PokerStars Sunday $250K guaranteed

Anybody watching the deal discussion. It's the stupidest thing ever. One wants to split it 50-50 approx 75k each and the other wants to play out 80k for 1st 70 for 2nd. They can't agree. The difference between both proposals are 5k, but i guess they're going to play it out. Someone will be disappointed with 56k when they could have had 70 or 75.

Ryner 10-18-2004 02:13 AM

Re: PokerStars Sunday $250K guaranteed

The dumbest deal discussion I saw was the shortest stack kept saying he deserved more money cause his chips were worth more.
