Villian could, but his hand is probably 2 pair and there aren't monsters under the bed.

Oh, of course, easy 3 bet....but for some reason everyone assumed villian could only reasonably have 89 when ahead.

If Villain would have check-raised the flop with a pair, than NO, you should cry and call because the only hand you beat is KQ.
