No matter what happens, present day and future poker will be better than pre-boom poker. Everyone has been exposed to it now.

The only real thing to worry about is the online poker boom.

I can only think of two things that could kill the poker boom. The big sites going under or the US government cracking down on internet gambling.

Online boom

My main concern was actually online. I failed to mention this. But when it does dwindle online, will fish be an endangered species? I sure as (censored) hope not

Re: Online boom

I think poker in the form it is now will not live on. They used to play stud, 7 cards! Now we are down to two cards, AND NO BETTING LIMIT! Next game will one card, high card wins!!

Seriously though, casinos are cash cows in America now, and I don't see any reason for casinos to slow down. Plus people like competiting in games where the odds aren't against them. There is no "edge" for the house in poker.

Re: Online boom

There is a house edge in poker. Rake or time charge. All equal players with equal luck over long term leads to everyone losing and house winning. Live games will continue to boom, most new players I know want to play live. Live games are popping up like crazy in NYC, in clubs, bars and private games.
