The Truth About Omaha 8 Or Better (By Grandgnu)

If you are dealt any of the following hands:

A/2/3/4
A/2/2/3
A/2/3/5
A/2/3/3

You can be certain the flop will contain two to three high cards.

If you are dealt:

A/A/x/x double suited

You can be certain the flop will contain the opposite suits. Or, if you hit the nut flush on the flop, the board WILL pair on the river, and someone with middle cards who hit bottom two pair on the flop will crush you.

If you are dealt

K/K/Q/10
K/Q/J/J
A/Q/Q/J
etc.

You can be positive the flop will contain three low cards

If you raise with A/A/x/x and get four callers and the flop is:

6/K/6

One of those donks has a 6, even when a third 6 hits the river and you figure your hand is good

If you are dealt A/A/x/x and the flop is:

A/3/9

And the board pairs 9's on the turn, you know someone with 9/9 just sucked you right in

If you have 7/7/x/x in the blind and the flop is 7/K/7, that opponent who keeps raising you has pocket Kings, and you know the river will bring him his fourth.

In all seriousness, the above likely sounds like tilt, but it is my bland attempt at humour (apologies in advance?) I've actually been doing quite well in the O-8 games, but sometimes it seems like the above can happen to you quite frequently, like the whole world is against ya. :P

i was playing a live game the other night and saw a guy pick up AA three hands in a row, flop a set three times in a row, and get scooped by a nut low, straight, or flush all three times. it was pretty sick.

I seriously flopped quad 7's and someone rivered his fourth king on me. But another time I flopped a straight flush and someone picked up quads on the turn and wasn't going to fold.

Another time we were just three-handed, and I was actually heads-up. On the turn I had the nut high and the 2nd nut low. On the river I had the 2nd nut high and 2nd nut low, heads-up. My opponent had both nuts, ugh.

Another time a maniac in PLO hi/lo was playing crazy, he flopped top pair Jacks on a board that gave me the nut flush draw, nut low draw. We got all the money in and the turn and river were both Jacks and he hit quads to take all the money. *pout*

But I still love Omaha 8, SO many terrible players, I love tables with 5+ seeing a flop, it's been very profitable.

I love it when I have AAxx in PLO8, raise 3-4BB from EP and get 3-4 callers.

What are they playing?

Hang in there and all that jazz.

You know all you need to do is wait em out, eventually a flop will come your way.

I folded an A468, A46 suited in a 4/8 kill pot last weekend at the Taj with 5 callers to me in MP, flop came 235 and it got capped on 3 streets by two people showing A4xx
