Pushing back

1/2 6-max on Party. I've been running bad on this table, down about a buyin but without losing a significant amount in any one hand. I just can't flop anything and keep getting played back at when I make a move at the pot. I don't think I've gone to showdown more than a couple times and never in a big pot. Opponents may or may not have noticed this.

Folded to me on the button I ($200) make it $8 with 44, SB folds, BB (covers) calls. BB is pretty tight preflop but fairly aggressive postflop, up a little on the table but not getting to showdown often.

Flop: J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] ($17)

BB checks, I bet $14, BB donkraises to $28, I make it $78.

Eh?

It's obviously not standard, most times you fold to the checkraise. Sometimes you just know that they are testing you with a small pair or no pair, which they will fold to further aggression. When your opponents see you continuation bet followed by folding, they are gonna be more inclined to take shots at you. This villain seems like the type to do it.

I think it's a move to be used rarely, but when I've done it it has worked out very well, and I think this is a good time for it.

I like the move now, but what do you plan to do on later streets if he calls?

I don't think this is profitable

This is the last money you put in the pot unless you hit your two-outer.

Anyone think a call in position look scarier than 3bet?

I don't mind the play ghaz, but I think a case could be made for calling and taking it away on the turn. The problem is, of course, we're not sure if a diamond is a good or bad card for us.

Are you 3 betting AA in this spot?

You are correct, sir, though I might make a move on a diamond. Very few players will donkraise with a flush draw on a paired board.
