This was at a $100+9. Villain was tight (8% VP$IP after 30 hands or so). Should I have just bet half the pot here and folded to a check-raise? Unfortunately I didn't give it much thought but I went with my instincts. There's about 1500 in the pot already. If he doesn't have clubs but a pair of aces I figured I had plenty of equity to the flush; plus the possibility of him folding due to fear of the clubs. If he would have the Kc in this situation, then so be it. I wasn't trying to think the worst case scenario here. The simplest option obviously would be to check and fold to a bet if I don't improve to the river, but I didn't like that at all.

What's the play here?

I'd just check behind and take the free card.

Villain has an Ace here a lot of the time and is going to call your push which looks like a semi-bluff. When you check you also induce bluffs from underpairs or lower flush draws on later streets.

I don't feel it is very reckless. He limped, then called your raise, so he is unlikely to have a big ace (AK, AQ, AJ). Given the preflop action I would be most worried about a set or top two pair (read- not too likely), and even if you run into one of those, you have outs.

Yes he has you covered, but you can seriously hurt his stack, so it would be tough for him to call with a weak ace. I don't see him calling with just the Kc either, though I wouldn't mind it.

As far as betting half the pot and folding to a raise, I don't like that very much either. You open yourself up to a semibluff raise, and make a weak A more likely to call, not to mention pricing in Kc9 (if it is even worth mentioning).

Given he called, I'm guessing he had two pair, a set, JTc, or KJc.

Thanks guys. I like taking the free card here actually. I was tempted to just shove all in pre flop and pick up 500 chips. The problem was when I saw the pot - it looked too good to be wake tight with.
