4 Color Decks in B&M?

Recently I began using the four Color decks on-line. Are any B&M Cardrooms using these yet? I would think it would be much easier to see the board from the table ends.

I hear the PPT is using them, that should spur the popularity...

Mason wrote a good essay on why 4-colors would be a bad idea B&M. To sum it up, it gives a huge advantage to front-loaders (people who are adept a catching a glimpse of the cards when the dealer pitches a bit too high). All the front loader would need to see is color to give him a much bigger edge in certain hands.

Mason's essay was right on.

Anyway, several years ago at least one major LA Card Club was experimenting with the four color deck. People were critical of the "shade of green" for clubs or that the "blue wasn't right" in diamonds. At the time I thought people were just resistant to change and/or being silly-nit picky, the four color deck (which I use online of course) seemed so much better.

After a few weeks the four color deck was withdrawn ostensibly because of the "colors aren't quite right" complaints and Mason's Essay came out (probably in Card Player) a few months later. After reading it I realized that it was a good thing it died and whenever the idea resurfaces I use his arguments against any rebirth.

Am I the only one who can't stand those 4-color decks online either? I tried using it, but I just couldn't get used to it. It actually made it more difficult for me to read the board...

Call me a purist, but I'm against the 4-color deck too. I use 2-color online, and I have yet to misread a suit in 8,000 online hands and innumerable B&M hands over the years.

I am not sure why, but I dig these 4 colored decks. I think it is really just my below average eyes. Easier for multitabling. Something very sexy about the blue diamonds, I can't put my finger on it though.

4 colour decks help prevent mistakes when you're playing a billion tables online.

in b&m, they're completely useless, unless you just dont see very well.

I didn't use 4 color decks online until recently. When you start multi-tabling it is a lifeline that really helps. But otherwise, I don't want to see 4 color decks in B&M games.
