TP OOP 100NL

I haven't posted a hand in a while. This one was a little uncomfortable.

Just sat down, I have $100. Stars 100NL, 9 players.

Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $0.50. BB Posts a blind of $1.00. 1 fold, Hero raises to $3.50, 2 folds, MP calls $3.50, LP calls $3.50, 3 folds.

Flop (3 players, $12.00): 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
Hero bets $9, 1 fold, LP raises to $20, Hero ... ?

Plan? If you would call, what's your plan for the turn & river assuming nobody improves? Assuming I improve? Assuming the board gets scarier?

Edit to add that both preflop opponents cover me.

wow this spot sucks real real bad. w/ no reads i fold oop in a big pot with 1 pair. if i think my hand is good i call the raise, 2/3 pot the turn and give up by the river.

Yeah this is an uncomfortable spot. Some villians will smooth call AK in position and you're way behind to that.

The other problem is that if villian is raising for a free turn on a flush draw you have to lead the turn, so this hand is going to get expensive.

no reads at all? against a tough/tricky opponent, i like a stop-n-go. call the flop raise and lead 2/3 pot on pretty much any turn. fold to any further aggression.

I'm folding here, Grunch. Hero's position here plus the low likelihood of Hero improving makes this a situation where you will win the minimum when you win and lose the maximum when you lose.

The only other line I could see is call the Villain's flop raise and lead the turn for 2/3. Shutdown if called. Fold if raised. I still think folding the flop is a better choice in the longrun.

For this very reason, I fold all no pair hands other than AK UTG and UTG+1 when I have just sat at a full table. Once in this situation without reads I fold though. He wants to play a big pot, you don't and you're in no spot to control the pot size. Hope 100nl is treating you well

Re: TP OOP 100NL

What if you were in the same spot against someone you knew was LAG ? He could be raising with a flush draw, maybe even A2 or A3, or 45. I was in this spot and chose to check-call whole way to trap a weaker hand, but that didn't let me define my hand and discover his strength. Reraise flop, or just call flop and lead turn with any card (even a diamong)?

Re: TP OOP 100NL

Full ring I think this is a flop fold, but 6max its call and lead turn, but its VERY borderline in 6max too. Tough spot in general.

Its minraises like this get us in trouble (a little more than a minraise i know).

Re: TP OOP 100NL

Well, I figured that the choice I needed to make was to see a showdown or fold now. I decided that the opponent could have a hand like TT or even sometimes a [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] draw as often as AK, so I had to try to show the hand down...

Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with A Q. SB posts a blind of $0.50. BB Posts a blind of $1.00. 1 fold, Hero raises to $3.50, 2 folds, MP calls $3.50, LP calls $3.50, 3 folds.

Flop (3 players, $12.00): 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
Hero bets $9, 1 fold, LP raises to $20, Hero calls $11.

Turn (2 players, $52): [2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]] T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
Hero bet $35, LP calls $35.

River (2 players, $122): [2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]] Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

I have $40 left. I wanted to get them all in the middle, and I felt the best way was to induce. At this point I'm convinced he has AK, and he won't let the river go by un-bet. So, I checked.

Hero checks, LP bets $40, Hero calls all-in.
