Looks like he was on a busted spade draw.. but I'm not sure what he'd call with that you'd beat if you value bet.

I put him on another overpair. The only flush draw that makes sense with the preflop cap and no turn bet or raise is KQs. I like the river check, since the only losing hand I can see him calling with is TT.

Did you have a read? Without one I think you can assume you're either ahead of TT or behind AA/KK/QQ once he 3-bets the flop. I'm probably just calling down from there.

Pretty sure he has KK/QQ and is scared of a set or AK

I dont like the flop raise, his betting is screaming "QQ-KK-AA".

His turn action implies QQ/KK(Which he wont be folding, but he will raise AA).

It is because of the above that i prefer:

Call flop 3bet(Dont cap), Check/Call Turn, Check/Call river.

Although as i put him on QQ/KK i dont even like C/C the turn or river.

I just think your flop cap and turn bet stink.

Check/Call Turn, Check/Call river.

I keep seeing you say this when in position heads up, and it makes no sense to me.

OP: I think you played this perfectly. bet the turn for a free showdown -- this is the last bet you should put in UI. There is not sufficient value to bet the river. You need to bet the turn to charge the draws -- if you check behind the turn it makes villains river play incredibly easy, whereas if you bet the turn he is going to have a helluva time avoiding a FTOP mistake.

if he checks, you check.
If he bets, you call.

What you confused about?

I don't see villan on a draw here raising and 3betting HU but hey.

Other than being torn on flop cap, I play exactly the same; he goes limp on turn prolly w/KK/QQ maybe intending to call down (can't see Ax playing flop like that); largish pot and being behind more likely pf/flop-action hands I prefer c-c river hoping he was TT (or worse, JJ)...

typically when people on these boards say "check/call turn", they say it when out of position, and mean it as check the turn, call if he bets. villain has already checked, so saying to call just didn't make sense. that's all.

I definitely think checking this turn behind is bad. are you calling any river? K/Q/spade?
