pokerstars connection problems?

Is anyone else frozen up in Pokerstars? It's 8:30 PM right now, and I am frozen out of a MTT & a SNG.

I'd appreciate any info. Thanks.

Brett

I'm playing the $20 rebuy and 5of 9 players are sitting out after they all timed out at about 8:20pm EST.

4 handed rebuy....I think I'm seeing 75% of the flops!

I froze up at a cash game, but the "leave table" button was working, so I just logged out.

Was in a SnG down to 4. 2 lagged out and 2 remained and we had to wait forever till each of them folded. Was still in a cash game and playing fine. Felt laggy so I thought I'd relogin. Now I can't get back in.

Got 4 people sitting out at my SnG now. Really funny. 7 people at the table and only 3 of us connected.

Has this happened before? Do we get anything as an apology?

SixgunSam 10-25-2004 09:27 PM

Re: pokerstars connection problems?

Now I am completely frozen with an open-ended straight draw. Wonder wtf is going on now. Seems like I'm still connected.

same problems, lay down $42 for a rebuy tourney and the rounds keep going up. Also I have $0 in my account and that's freakin me out

Playing in a rebuy tournament with your entire BR? Life on the edge...

This is ridiculous. I can get into the lobby, but not the individual tables. Also, I can see that my stacks are shrinking, so some people still have access. Why does Stars not shut down all action when they have a problem like this. They may have just convinced me to move my bankroll elsewhere.

It is only showing ZERO in your account because of the connection problems. I have had this happen before. Trust that your money is still there. Do not worry about that.

Regarding your investment in the tourney, well you're SOL on that one.

I was in a SNG, 2 table, with 8 left. I was chip leader, with about double what the closest player had. I was in the BB, dealt 6/3. Flop came 6/6/T. SB bet into me, I called, there were 2 others behind me, and that's where it froze.

I was able to get back on for a few minutes at about 9:05 PM, and the SNG had ended.

Thanks to everyone for responding!!

Get your money back???? I severely doubt that will happen. Your stack will shrink, and you'll probably not even get an apology. And yes, it appears that some can play, without connection problems. Go figure.

Re: pokerstars connection problems?

Yeah, we as players should not have to stand for a few hours of problem in an otherwise mostly perfect program!

SixgunSam 10-25-2004 09:50 PM

Re: pokerstars connection problems?

Is anyone actually able to play right now? Is it only a select few who are frozen or is this site wide?

rybones 10-25-2004 09:52 PM

fair?

This is not just a reply to gfunk911, I have seen several similar posts tonight. I do think ps needs to make ammends to those who have been screwed, but think about this quote.

So if I read this correctly, it is quite alright that the 5 people who got disconnected and whose blinds were being pilfered should get screwed, but you should get more than your buyin back?

just my thoughts and I truly wonder what others think?

I was trading blinds with one or two others for about 20 hands. It was ridiculous. I think if it is only one or two people who are having issues per table then the tourney should go on and those people who are sitting out with connectivity issues should get refunded.

When most of the site has crashed then they should cancel all tourneys and refund all entry fees.

And give us free stress stars to say they're sorry.

I am not condemning Pokerstars, nor would I plan to not play on it again because of tonight's problem.

IMHO, I agree, that it is an almost perfect program, and I think it is the best online poker site, by far.

I wasn't sure if anyone else was having the same problem, and again, I thank the 2+2ers for the information!

I hear exactly what you're saying, I agree with you completely. I know that giving what a mess the site is, they should probably jsut refund everyone's money. I happened to insta rebuy to 3k, get up to 5500 on hand 3 before problems, and have only taking a grand off of disconnected players. Most of my wins have been against live players. It would really stink to jsut get my money back, but again, that's probably the best way to go

Re: fair?

I signed up for the 9:15 10+1 Rebuy on PS's. I checked the time and it said 51 minutes until the tourney starts, I came back around 30 minutes later to find that it still only had 21 players registered and still had 51 minutes until start. I shut down ps's and restarted it and now the tourney is "announced" rather than registering with players. Interesting, hope I get a credit. Seems as if everyone is having the same problem. I'm sure Pokerstars keeps great logs so while it might take a while to refund all the players it will more than likely get done eventually. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I would like to think that a site that holds my money
would be a little more responsible and seriois in his answers..

Hello,

There appears to be a problem in North America centering around AOL and
related networks. We are not having any problems near our server.

Please try rebooting your computer and going back to the tables. Your
balances were safe during this outage, but the cashier cage could not read
them from the database.

We hope that this will be sorted out quickly. We apologize for any
inconvenience caused by this outage. We can assure you that this situation
in no way represents normal operations at PokerStars.

In that chat window at about 10:30 PM ET (the 22+r)

Administrator: This tournament will be canceled, and all entrants will be refunded all entry fees. No additional play will occur. We apologize for the inconvenience.

I eat my earlier words, about not getting anything refunded.

IMO, pokerstars is showing their class with this move. However unfortunate the disconnects were, this is the fairest solution.

Cheers to pokerstars!

I think that this applies to all of the tournies in progress, not just the $22 rebuy.

Huge win for me - I was in for $82 in the rebuy, and had just taken a beat and just busted out about 10 minutes before the rebuy period ended. Now the money's back in my account!!

Kind of an anti-bad beat, if you will...
