Moving Up: What\'s my next step?

As many of you know I play NL1000 on Party (4-tabling). It's been my regular game since early October. The following are my stats in that game:

Hands played: 87,177
ptbb/100: 4.77
mt ratio: 3.72
hourly rate: $325.17

I'm in a kinda weird spot right now because I'm considering moving up limits fairly soon. BUT I hate the 10/20 games on Party since I am a sh'd specialist and DESPISE full ring (BORING!). At the 2k tables:

6600 hands at 6.45ptbb/100...tiny sample.

Does anyone have any recommendations as to what my next step should be? I could try a new site where game selection sucks or I could just stick to the party 2k games when they are only shorthanded. But that blows when I build a stack and the game fills up.

How about the 10/25 6-max games on UB. How much tougher are they than the 5/10 and 10/20 games on party? Prima? Absolute?

All comments and recommendations are appreciated as well as thoughts on my NL1000 stats so far: enough hands? good enough WR?

Thanks,
-HEK

stars has 10/20 6 max that runs a decent amount

prima has 2 10-20s that run almost all the time. A lot of regulars. UB has 6max, stars has 6max, FT has 6max.

Re: Moving Up: What\'s my next step?

When did Stars add 6-max? Is the 10/20 6-max good?

Your 5/10 stats look fine to me. I'd take 4.75 PTBB/100 right now (stuck in a downswing).

does anyone know if pokerroom has good 10-20? one of my friends plays 10-20 there, and does well, but i'm not sure if its short-handed

Did you really play 87,000 hands in 2 months?

87k over 2 month is like 3 hours/day playing 4 tables i think... not too bad.

I don't play anywhere near this high, so I can't comment on the quality of the game, but I do play at pokerroom. From what I've noticed on the rail, they usually have a short $10/$20 game going, but not always a full ring game.

As an fyi for anyone interested, they have been getting off a $25/$50 game (6-9 handed generally) recently and occasionaly short $50-$100 game (full table but, it never fills up).

Hope this helps.

That's like 72,000 hands or something.. and that's every single day. That's a lot of playing.

this extrapolates to something like 300k a year if you did this in three months

pushing half a mill/annum if this is sustainable and you did it in 2 months

is anyone else astounded?

snaps!

the winrate, though incredible, doesn't astound me because my friend has an equal one over the past few months.

What astounds me is where all this money possibly comes from. There are a lot of us doing so well. . .it's hard to imagine.

Re: Moving Up: What\'s my next step?

The UB 10/25 games are better than the Party 10/20 games IMO. Party 10/20 is full of nut peddlers, and they don't have 6 max, making it way too boring for me to consider grinding at.

Since 10/23 (exactly 2 months) I have played 88,140 hands total over all limits. 81,458 of those hands were NL1000 6max for 4.54ptbb/100.

Wanna know the sickening part? $21,922 paid in rake

I sent an e-mail to Party asking for NL players to be given more points (currently all NL levels are equal to like .5/1 limit). Isn't the VIP program based on Party points? If it is, that's really lame.

Re: Moving Up: What\'s my next step?

hek,

i'm in an almost identical situation as you. i really can't imagine one game being substantially easier than another at these levels. what i'm thinking about doing is keeping money on party, stars, full tilt, and ub and try to work harder on my game selection. this will definitely mean more time sweating instead of playing, but it should increase your winrate by quite a bit once you get the hang of it. i bet this will improve your game as well.

If your relying on party points, your in trouble.

Also, stick to 10/20 nl short on party, and don't be lazy, and just get up when it gets over 6 people. And don't worry about ditching stacks under 4k, they come and go constantly. Might have to start most your tables heads up.

Can you do me a favor (and anyone else who wants to pipe in): Explain your process of game selection, especially across multiple sites. I need help with that.

Here's what I do: throw my name on the wait list for all NL1k 6max tables on party starting with highest pot avg first. Then, as I get seats reserved for me sit down only if there are NOT 2 or more good regulars in the game. Pretty sick formula I got huh?

This is exactly what I do. If I recognize some decent regulars and I have bad position, I find a new table. Otherwise I just go with it.
