Dutch Boyd question

If it's illegal to operate an online cardroom or casino for American audiences (other than in Nevada), why is Dutch Boyd allowed back into the country?

I am no expert, but as I understand it, it isn't illegal to have a gambling site that serves Americans, but it is illegal to have the site stationed in the US. That is why you see all the big sites are home based offshores.

However, those businesses can have offices that operate in other countries, it's just that the money exchange between the customers and the business can not happen on American soil. Annie Duke moved to Oregon because the site she fronts for had an office here in Portland. Dutch probably did something similar.

other than in Nevada

I'm pretty sure that Nevada is one state that has specific laws banning online gambling.

btw- I think that list may be out of date, as it's my understanding that the State of Washington has gone pretty agressive against online gaming (although I think their target is sports books and not poker rooms).

If this was in reference to my earlier post, I didn't say it was legal for all Americans to gamble online, I was saying it wasn't illegal for an offshore internet casino to give service to Americans. It is up to each person to find out whether or not it is legal in their state.
