AKs UI - Button vs. SB (0.25/0.50 Stars)

This is my second hand at the table, so no reads. I would appreciate comments on the Turn and River, as I think Pre-flop and Flop are pretty standard.

PokerStars 0.25/0.50 Hold'em (8 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is SB with A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].

Flop: (7 SB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)

Turn: (4.50 BB) 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)

River: (8.50 BB) 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)

What is the rationale behind the turn check-raise? And how is it an improvement over simply betting out?

Bet-fold the turn. Check-raising is really awful with no read.

Bet/fold turn. Why are you raising?

No need to try to get tricky here. Just keep betting, fold to a raise. Checking the turn lets him see a free river with a low pocket pair and or flush draw if he so chooses. Allows the same low pair to show down for 1.5 BBs after the flop instead of 2.5.

First post - but AK gives me fits. I see it as basically a great drawing hand, but if you don't improve, it loses its value too quickly. I think in this situation, I call preflop, check the flop and check fold the turn. It's not improving - no flush possibility, no straight possibility. If ou hit the A or the K, you are susceptible to Qx.

Again - I'm not an expert - far from it, so I'm really interested in what people have to say on this, and don't take this post as any sort of useful info. Just my thoughts.

FPS-Fancy Play Syndrome. At these limits I don't see him laying down anything that beats you and against an aggressive player with a queen, you would have just been three bet on the turn. Like the others say, keep it simple and bet until a raise hits.

You want to bet the flop since the button may have been stealing with a wide range of hands. Unless he has a pocket pair or one of the five cards that beat you (2 q's and 3 2s) you are ahead in the hand. If you check/call then check/fold you invite the sharks to pick on your blinds. Remember he has to hit his, or we are ahead on this flop with our ace king.
