Fun hand against an ultra maniac, play it for me

Party Poker 5/10 6 max

Villain in this hand is a maniac. Every other maniac looks up to him and wishes they had the guts to play like he does.
Stats are 93/87 after 90 hands. AF is pretty irrevlevant given the information below, but it was well into double digits.

I don't think I have ever had a better read on a player, for whatever a read is worth in this situation. He played every hand, and he capped every hand preflop. I would treat any exceptions as bathroom breaks or something, because he would cap anything against as many opponents as wanted to get involved.

Preflop is easy. Postflop he operated by some easily defined rules.

1. He will cap every street with any pair, and any ace. I am a little unsure on how he plays draws. but I would assume cappage is likely.

2. He will always check and call any bet and fold on the river if unimproved on any street. In other words he will fold on the end only with absolutely nothing.

So if he is betting or raising postflop he has met condition one and you can assume he has something.

He has run over the table while people wait for big hands against him. I have seen people folding ridiculously often and a couple people have left. I have won one huge pot against him and lost two mid size pots.

I have complete control over how many bets to put in on each street. How many do you put in on each street?

He is on the button, folded around to him, naturally he raises, SB folds. I have T [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] in the BB.

How many bets preflop? (this one seems easy)

Flop is T [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 2 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 3 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

He is in a raising mood from this point forward, so it is up to us as to how many bets go in the pot, how many bets on each street?

Turn is 2 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

River is 3 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

I know we can pokerstove this and solve the problem mathematically, but I would like to see how people approach it as if they were on the time bank playing the hand. So know cheating by playing ahead as, of course, I didn't know the turn and river ahead of time. I know I played it poorly, but this isn't a situation you get into often.

I bet, 3-bet the flop and turn and check-call the river.

Next?

Slight nitpick, you can't bet 3-bet this guy, it just ends up as a cap. If you want three bets you have to check raise and call his reraise.

I assume you would just call preflop, or would you fold?

call preflop, cap flop, bet/call turn, check call river.

I would fold pre flop. T5 is pushing it a bit even against this guy.

Fold PF for 1 BB HU to a super maniac? Why would I do that?

PS: By saying "next" in my previous post I meant next poster. I'm curious to see other replies

If he'll cap every street with any pair or an A, call PF and cap flop and turn, then just check-call the river.

Do we need to bet the river as well? We won't play 100 hands like this against the maniac but even if we do I can't believe that even the craziest maniac will raise/cap the river with a random hand every time, so check-calling is fine especially if you are susceptible to tilting.

I think I slightly changed the suites but it should be fine

Re: Fun hand against an ultra maniac, play it for me

That is good, but his hand isn't random. He is only betting or raising here with a pair or any ace. So preflop the random range is correct. Postflop the range should be 22-AA, and any hand with a 2, 3, T, or ace. So for example J8 is a random hand, but with his actions postflop that is no longer a possible hand.

Guilty for not reading thoroughly your OP. I thought he caps every street-every time.
