hand #1 from 5000 PLHE

Having already lost a big pot with AA I am down to less than 1600 chips, blinds 25/50. Villain in the hand and I got into an argument about how he thinks online poker is rigged to create action before the tournament started. He has been calling my raises alot and has made alot of river bluffs so far.

I'm MP1 with AQo(both black) and make it 150. Villain and button call, both blinds fold. Flop is K73 rainbow, it is checked around. Turn is the 4h, putting 2 hearts on board. I check, villain bets 500, button folds, I call. River is an offsuit 7, I check, he bets 1000, I have 975 left. What do you put Villain on, and should I call all in with nut no pair?

personally, Gavin, I hate the turn call - the first 4 cards have missed, and by the 5th, well hell, you still have 20 times the BB - why give up so early?

I'd lay it down cause if he's making near to a Pot sized bet on the turn, he's setting it up again for the river - know what I mean? Of course, you're almost committed on the river - but I'd see 1000 chips and low blinds and try again another hand.

I don't understand the turn call with this one either. I'd fold and look for a better spot or maybe check-raise the pot but I'm just not sure how much folding equity you have against a guy that is pissed with you anyway.

Damnit, this worked for you again didn't it?! Why does this always work for you and never for me?

I would have put him on a weak King or a 107, 87, but I'm sure he turned over the A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].

Obviously, you either called and won, or folded.

I don't like the turn call. Two callers behind and you didn't hit your hand. Preserve your 29BBs and wait for a better spot to trap your bluffhappy opponent.

I'm not sure what he has at this point. Could be anything from J8 to 56. I think he would have bet his K on the flop, so I don't give credit for holding a K. Also agree with RB, and not too crazy about the $500 post-flop call (unless you knew he was bluffing, which maybe you did...interested to hear the result).

Just curious, why didn't you continue betting on the flop?

yeah, uh, not my standard line. i'd bet the flop and be done with it. no way i'm calling the turn or the river.

If I thought he was betting with complete air on the turn I'd dump my stack back at him.

If I knew I had a good read on him and my balls were feeling really really big I could see myself calling this but I would feel like a moron if I busted out here.

On next week's episode of "Play a hand with a WSOP champion" we will join Phil Hellmuth as he puts in $3000 of his $4500 stack PF and contemplates folding his KK when the flop comes A-4-2.

Come on, Gavin. If you're going to call half of your chips on the turn with no pair, how can you fold it on the river? It's not like the river helped him. You know this is an obvious call on the river. Perhaps you should have phrased the original question differently, something like "What do you guys think about giving up when you're shortstacked and getting all the money in with no pair?"
