Bet, Raise, PUSH?

Villain's 2nd hand at the table, he has $99, I cover.
$100 NL Hero is dealt 8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
Villain calls, 2 more calls, 3 folds to me, I complete, BB checks.
$5 FLOP 6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
I lead for $5, BB folds, Villain raises to $15, 2 folds to me, Hero.....?????????
I have a gut shot and a flush draw 12 outs twice so I am a small dog... does a push make sense here?

Yes, it does make sense.

Posted this at midnight last night, so please pardon the bump, but is a push the best play here?

i like a push as well though you may have little fold equity

Re: Bet, Raise, PUSH?

In a situation like this (admitedly something I have not thought about enough in the past) what is the push trying to accomplish exactly. I am assuming you are hoping that you may force the villain to fold if he is on higher diamonds and maybe a high pocket pair (not likely he has that here), TPTK, or 2 pair.

Any thoughts/opinions/past experiences on what this does fold compared to what it doesn't?

I played this pretty badly. I thought about the push but just called. Turn was a diamond, I led for 2/3 pot, he minraised me, I pushed, he called and turned over A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. I am assuming if the player is not a draw chaser I probably take it down if I had pushed, which is why I am beating myself up over my call.

Not really

Check and bet out if you hit the flush c/r if you hit the straight.

If the board pairs, continue with caution.

I don't like it. You are getting your money in as a dog. Unless you feel that you are getting villain to fold a majority of the time, I think it better to just call. If you hit your straight you will get paid.

It makes sense but the problem with the move at this level is that there is almost no fold equity from a raiser.

Given his, he may have folded (although he does have two overs to the board as well, so its close for him), but I think villian calls this a 80+% of the time given his raise.

Once the diamond hits, is everyone getting stacked here?
