River decision 10/20

I'm tilting a bit because I'm not getting paid off on any good hands and getting pushed off every nothing hand, but Villain is new to the table and may not realize this. I have been making continuation bets a lot and firing a second barrel on the turn and folding to checkraises/raises, but again, Villain may not know this.

I'm UTG with 2500 behind and A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] and I make it 80 Folded to loose-passive SB with 1200 behind who calls and Villain BB (on the loose side of TAG from previous sessions, but no clear read because I usually don't take notes ) calls as well with 2000 behind.

3-way to the flop of A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] with 240 in the pot.

Checked to me, I bet 175, SB folds, BB calls.

Turn 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] with 590 in the pot.

BB checks, I bet 400, he calls.

River 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] with 1390 in the pot.

BB checks. He has about 1300 left.

I would go allin hoping to a call from K high.
Seriously, allin will be often called by weaker ace and I dont see what is calling smaller bets anyway.

Best wishes

No merit in betting a smaller amount?

I bet like 750 or something, I think it makes it more likely he will call with a dry 8, or 89 or something (or even 10s) I think pushing here is okay too, but I would take my time and drop something into the pot he could pay me off with... and I'm usually an advocate of making huge river bets, but this situation seems like he could call you with a smaller hand if the bet is right...

Hi flawless,

WTF is the point [of betting less than 1300 all-in]?

[/ QUOTE ]

Getting paid off by a hand that probably sucks is the point. BECAUSE this guy is new to the table, I'd probably bet 400 again and be thrilled if he paid it off. I'd call any raise, of course. If it'd been one of the opponents you had a history with, then pushing would be mandatory. It's a big jump for a guy who called 175, then 400, to call 1300 more on the end when he may have missed anyway. I'm hoping to get a call from 88 or something.
