WEAPONS.

Inspired by the fight-thread I have a follow up poll, how many of you 2+2'ers are packing some kind of weapon or defense-whatever

Like
Guns, knifes, maze, sticks, samuraiswords etc.

Please include stories/anecdotes if you have used the weapon.

No, but I should probably get mace.

Not pepper spray though, I mean like a midieval club with spike on the end.

Errr.... I thought the poll was do you own a weapon. I clicked yes, but I don't take my sniper rifle and machetes to the bars with me.

Re: WEAPONS.

Where I grew up on Guam, most everyone had a knife and/or something else. Some people carried two. I carried the brass bolt from a porthole on a chain and a knife.

In Hawaii, I sometimes carried a knife, but mostly carried a jitte, which is a Japanese truncheon that they used to use in the old days and that was a common police weapon. It was a short round metal baton with a sort of hook toward the base that was used to capture a sword blade and then snap it or disable the swordsman. My original jiu-jitsu teacher made me promise to never be without a weapon, and I honored it.

I've often been without a weapon since I moved to Los Angeles, as the level of racial tension and general violence is nowhere near what I was used to growing up unless you're pretty unlucky or hang around in certain neighborhoods. Still, I've often carried a knife, and sometimes pepper spray, as I've still lived in some sort of borderline bad areas.

I live on a somewhat isolated college campus. It's not really necessary.

I'm thinking Blarg could answer this but it is open to everyone.

What are the best item/s to carry that will not apear to be a weapon? How do you use them if you have to?

Even if I have this I could not fight off a small dog with it.
