Strategy Question

Please help me with my thought process on this.

$6.50 Turbo PokerStars
6 of 9 players remaining.
Blinds 100/200

BobbyCharles 2560 chips - Small Blind
Villain 1540 Chips - Big Blind

Folded around to me with K T offsuit. I'm looking to take down the pot here if possible so I raise to 800. Villain goes all in. It's another 740 to me and I call.

Villain turns over A 5 off. You know the rest of the story.

At the first bet: After folding around to me, was this the right sized bet?
After the all in: Granted K T is a mediocre hand at a full table, but KT heads up is better than mediocre and is a slight dog against Ax. Was this a bad call?

Please help me out.

Re: Strategy Question

Well, the raise you put in on SB was large enough to arouse the steal suspicion, I think that's why he went all in. For me (I am a bit more conservative) I dont want to risk a third of my stack on a steal 400-600 would be plenty I think. Since he goes all in your steal is called out (even if he is on 78s) and you are done with the hand - dont get too attached to your moves What I'd remember is that he aggressively protects his blind and make the same move with a monster in that scenario, QQ KK AA (if I get lucky enought to be in that spot again with those cards). He'll remember you backing down to a re-raise and may try it again.
