How do you play 3 of a kind in your hand

Is 222x-QQQx an automatic fold preflop. My thinking is that this hand has almost no chance of improving and most likely can't win on its own. Am I wrong?

Completely and totally worthless.

AAAx has value if you get a-i pre-flop.

Sorry, no slight intented. Any hand with three of a kind excluding AAAx (in some situations) is completely worthless.

Pushing AAAx preflop will be slightly +EV most of the time if you can get it HU but will be a very high variance play. If you want to bet ten thousand dollars over time to win a few hundred, you'd be better off playing basic counting strategy at blackjack.

So you go find a hand where by some freak of nature, you're not suited, you're opponent is double suited with the perfect 4 connected cards and he has a 0.02% edge over you

OH NOES YOU BEST FOLD THAT AAAx IT'S A LOSER!!!!11!!!
Seriously, don't try and be pedantic over such a rare insignifican't freak of nature that doesn't matter anyway since the dead money in the pot will make it correct to shove heads up anyway.

If you can get all in preflop with AAAx, then do so, else play it super passive.

Re: How do you play 3 of a kind in your hand

Wow. You're an ass AND you can't read. There are two examples there "Ribs".

The first is probably the best AAAx hand you're going to have, and it's a marginal dog to a decent double suited middle running hand.

The second is a fairly terrible AAAx hand and you'd be a 7% dog to
the same hand. Throw in one or two other hands and your play might be substantially -EV.

Like I said, if you can get it HU it's usually a good push, but you're gambling a lot with what will average out to be a tiny edge in the long run.

Junk. FWIW 22xx is just about as worthless as 222x to me.

Funny you mention this as I've gotten AAAx a bunch of times the past couple hundred hands, I played them once in a limped pot on the button but mucked em in EP.
