Need help with this TPTK decision on the River

I play way too weak-tight and I think that I am really hurting myself by not gaining bets that I should be on the river. That being the case, how do you play this?

6/12 Live Game with way too many callers preflop on almost every hand.

MP2 just sat down, he has played 5 of his first 8 hands, but has not shown down anything.

Hero is weak-tight and on the Button with A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

PREFLOP
UTG calls, UTG+1 calls, MP1 folds, MP2 calls, MP3 calls, CO calls, Hero raises, SB folds, BB calls, UTG calls, UTG+1 folds, MP2 calls, MP3 calls, CO calls

FLOP (12 SB)
K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
All check to Hero who bets, all fold except MP2 who calls

Turn (7 BB)
T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
MP2 checks, Hero bets, MP2 calls

River (9 BB)
6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
MP2 checks, Hero ???

Bets.

He could have almost anything and will call a bet with plenty of worse hands.

Check, it seems that you are beaten. by checking you protect from a raise:
--if he made his flush.
--if he has been slowplaying a stronger hand: ie; KK

This is horrible advice. The times you are winning and gain an extra bet by betting here far outweigh the times he made his flush or has better hand.

While I almost never do this live I'm starting to think bet/folding is the best line against most of these players as you will very very rarely see a river bluff check raise from a standard loose passive live player.

Because a guy who probably plays upwards of 60% of his hands has checked and called you twice on a relatively benign board?

Do you think that KK doesn't raise pre-flop?

I thought about that, but surely if he doesn't raise, he *has* to re-raise pre-flop?

Why does everyone always divert to the worse possible scenario?
