Ax blind defense against a constant thief...

Button is aggressive and likes to steal -- upwards of 40%. SB is passive and loose, but folds a bunch postflop.

Hero has A3o in the BB.

Pre-flop -
Folded to button, who raises, SB calls, hero calls.

Flop [945r]
SB checks, hero bets, Button raises, SB folds, Hero calls, planning to check-raise most turn cards.

Questions on both streets.

I often fold this pre-flop, even if button is a bit overzealous at stealing. I'd rather be defending with something like QTo or 98s as I'd think my cards would be more live. Is this a mistake?

if you want to get button to lay down, c/ring the flop and leading the turn might be a better option, because then you also get to gauge SB's level of involvement before you have to waste a SB, and you only have to spend 1BB on the turn instead of 2. if he starts taking shots on the turn, then you get to bet-3bet the real shizz.

I also fold PF, I just don't like the offsuit ones out of position
