ISO Atlantic City casinos with poker room rates this weekend

I hope I'm not asking a common question; apologies if I am...

I'm heading down to AC this thurs-sunday; I go down there all the time but generally I day-trip it since I live in Jersey. This weekend, though, I'm thinking that getting a room might be cool since I have the extra weekdays off from work. Anyway, I know a couple of casinos (notably the Borgata) used to have a reduced rate room deal for poker players...I was wondering if anyone knew if these rates are still available anywhere, and if so where they exist and what the best ones are. I'd also be interested to know any other good deals (on meals, comps, etc.) that might be going on this weekend, if anyone can help in that category.

If it's relevant, I'm a low-limit player (3/6 mostly, but it's not unlikely that I'll play up to 6/12 on an average trip if I win enough at the 3/6 table to stake myself), and I'm probably going to play in a ($50 or $100) tournament or two while I'm down there. I typically play at Borgata, the Taj and Harrah's (I've been known to frequent the Sunday afternoon games there, which are typically very, very loose and passive), but I'm not totally tied to any of those.

Thanks very much for any insights and tips-

You're not going to get a weekend room at either Taj or Borg on such short notice (and typically at Taj you have to play mid limits, not sure about Borg but I think they prefer the same thing). Sunday-Thurs is easy at either place, just call the poker room. Also, you need a history of established play so hopefully you have a players card. Since you asked about comps, I'm guessing you don't. Both Taj and Borg pay $1 an hour in comps for low limit play.

I just stayed at the Taj this past Tuesday night. It normally ranges between $150-350 plus taxes, or something like that. I got it at the poker rate it, and came out to $69 plus taxes (totalling $80 or something).

Cool; thanks very much for the reply. Maybe I'll just do the day trip, then...I'll call and see if there's anything I can do.

Btw, I do have comp cards at all 3 that I go typically go to (borgata, taj and harrah's), so I know about the $1/hr thing; I was wondering more along the lines of other kinds of special promotions. Thanks for the help, anyway, though.

Anyone know of anywhere else where a room might be possible? I'm thinking the Trop, maybe?

You could also try one of the motels on route 30, not the same as being at the casino, but still closer than home

Thanks, I was building a site anyway, and realized what a pain in the ass it was just to get the direct phone numbers to the AC pokerrooms...... now I cant stop adding stuff.

Jeff:

I'm getting clobbered every time I ask for a poker room rate at the Borg. I called again today to ask for the day before Thanksgiving (normally a very dead day) and they turned me down. I normally play 10/20, are there any tricks that can help me get a room in the future? I know guys who just started going to the Borg that get rooms no problem... I can't for the life of me figure out why this has been so hard.

I got a room at Borg for Monday and Tuesday, are they typical dead then too? If they are, I may not bother going.
FWIW, I called early last week for these rooms.

It is tough to get rooms at Borg PERIOD on the weekends. The best thing to do if you're flexible is call them and be like give me the first weekend you have available, Fri and Saturday night. It might be a month later, but you'll have it. Calling a week or two ahead? Forget it (though it may be easier in the dead of winter). Also, and I have no solid proof of this, my feeling is they are going to be tight giving rooms to people who don't regularly play 40-80 and higher (maybe 20-40). These people typically have more cash money with them and often have a predisposition to spray money around the pit, esp. when stuck. And we're talking thousands. That's my take on it. I haven't stayed there more than a few times though, so that's my take on it.
