help with irc
 

i am very stupid when it comes to computers, somewhat akin to a child who needs his hand held crossing the street.

so i want to get on the 2p2 irc so i can complain about bad beats in real time. i downloaded mirc but i dont know how to proceed. i dont even know how to log onto a server. i read the faqs and readmes but to no avail.

so, could anyone that uses mirc give me a hand?

i'm not sure about the 2+2 server, I don't know what they use, but open up IRC and type

/server theservertheyuse.com

/join #the2+2 channel

you may also want to do /nick somethingnotstupid before you proceed with the /join command

You can also get HydraIRC, and in my opinion this is a better program than mIRC. I can help you should you get this prog, PM me.

so now thanks to clayton i know how im supposed to log into a server.

however, i get the message "could not resolve host name"

anyone got any ideas?

My college firewall blocks access to all irc servers. How do I proxy around it?

but seriously, many servers listen on different ports, try 6660-6669.

the 2p2 chat info is efnet, irc.efnet.net ... #twoplustwo. all are welcome, just dont be a dumbass.

I just tried to join the channel for the first time on irc.efnet.net, but I'm getting:

#twoplustwo unable to join channel (address is banned).

Any updated info on the IRC channel or what I could be doing wrong would be appreciated. Thank you
