Foxwoods is INSANE!

I went to foxwoods tonight for the first time in a long time. Got there at 1PM didn't sit down until 4pm at a 1/2 NLHE table. 3 Hour wait. Totally insane. Thanks god for $25 Blackjack and +$300 in that time!! Good luck to anyone who goes there during peak times!!

Today it was more outrageous than normal on say a Saturday. I have an anecdote from today I'll post after I get some sleep.

And that is in a room with 100 tables!

Funny how the Mohegan Sun is convinced there is not enough action in Connecticut to warrant two poker rooms.

On weekends you really need to get there before 10 AM to avoid a big wait.

About a month ago I get there around 9:30 on a Saturday and there's about six people on the list for the 1/2 NL. By the time I got my seat there were thirty people behind me

Things had thinned out quite a bit over the summer, but I'm expecting this to again be true now that we're stuck in winter until April.

From what I could tell yesterday was the convergence of several factors. The day after Thanksgiving was a big one, yes, but most people have any given Saturday off so just being a day everyone has off work doesn't explain all of it. I think the cold weather and the apparent popularity of their Friday morning tournament (?) may also explain some of the crowds yesterday. One player at my table said that people streamed in from the tour buses between 7 and 8 am.

For that matter, the casino itself didn't seem packed beyond a normal weekend -- just the poker room.

As I understand it, Mohegan's slowness to act has little to do with not being convinced of demand, and more to do with their total inability to run a poker room without degenerating into a cesspool of corruption. (This was before I played poker, so i'm piecing together the story from what others tell me.)

It's STILL rumored that they'll be opening one soon. I guess the obvious demand has finally outstripped their lack of ability to run a poker operation. Supposedly this time dealers will pool tokes, which is disappointing to those of us who like good dealers but probably understandable given their rumored track record of dealers conspiring with floorpersons to arrange plum assignments.

Mohegan's room was so corrupt that the only way for them to fix it was to close it and terminate everyone. They are planning another expansion, and they will probably be adding a poker room at that time. Hope they hire someone with a clue to run it this time.

I've heard allegations, and I've heard bits and pieces of a story.

Someday, I'd love to hear the whole story about Mohegan's ex-poker room.

I debate people all the time who try to convince me that Mohegan dosnt want a poker room because it makes no money
