kem or copag?

Im assuming either kem or copag cards are the best cards, but I dont know which ones to choose.

I hear kem are better but copag are cheaper. also heard copag were more durable.

so I gotta few questions

whats the price range on both of these brands? and where can you get them cheap?

if there was no price, which would you get cause you think they feel better?

and which are better overall because of price/feel?

maybe ill end up just getting both.

I have Copegs and love them. I got them for 15 shipped (2 Decks & case), with a free dealer button and some sample chips too.

Copags all the way, 12.50 for 2 decks on ebay, shipped case and card cuts. Love them and they last a pretty long time, very durable

well do you guys have kems too?
i dont really care about spending a bit more for kems, so if you just bought copags cause they were cheaper and never used kems that doesnt prove their better

Re: kem or copag?

Kem cards are great cards and are the cards by which other cards are judged. However, Copag are just as good, last just as long, and are half the price. The only problem I have experienced, if you want to call it a problem, is that when you set the stack of cards down, the top card tends to slide off the deck. Kem does not seem to have this problem. It doesn't really effect play that much. Also, they have less glare making it easier to see the flopped cards. Money is not an issue for me, I'd gladly pay the money for Kem cards, however, since I've started using Copags, I see no reason to change.

I've had KEM's, Copags, and Modianos.

Other than the artwork and colors, I think Copags are just as good as KEM cards. They also feel more substantial than KEM's.

Have you ever used a plastic card before, and if so, do you like the flimsy feeling compared to a paper deck?

If you'd like an even more substantial feeling card, that feels more like a paper deck, I'd recommend modianos (check caragails.com). Here's a review:

I have both, and I like Kems just a little better. The copags are nice, but they are very slippery. For me its not a problem, but I have friends that cannot shuffle very well so its a small issue for them. Keeo in mind though that its a very small issue, and you may actually prefer that feel.

I found that my first set of Copags had pretty much no texture at all and were really slippery.

The second set I got had a rougher texture, and were not as slippery. I think they may have changed their manufacturing process or something...

Re: kem or copag?

Ive decided to get kem cards.

i looked around and saw what people had to say and it seems kem is the 'standard' and the best card to get. I also like the arrow design on it. i dont really mind paying a bit more, and eventually Ill probably get copags

Re: kem or copag?

Kem are fine. The quality of Copag is just as high as the quality of Kem. Plus, the offwhite color used by Copag greatly reduces glare. I've not seen a deck of Kem since they changed manufacturers, although I hear the difference is small. I've also heard that Gemaco all plastic cards hold up well too, but this is only what I've been told second hand.

Re: kem or copag?

The only problem with buying KEMs right now (other than the price) is that they are only making bridge sized cards (correct me if I'm wrong).

I find that the poker width cards are far superior for Hold'em play.

Re: kem or copag?

I agree, Copags are my favorite. Over the summer there was a charity poker event that ran every weekend (Thur. through Sun.) in Cleveland. Over the course of the summer they only had to replace three decks. They used Graphica cards, which are only available here. I liked them, and they're not very expensive either, although I do prefer Copags, I still think I'll purchase a set of these as well.

I have been playing with torcello playing cards.

Very nice. 100% plastic and a little cheaper then Kem.

Anyone else heard of them?

Re: kem or copag?

Nope. Where did you find them? I think for 15 bucks for two decks, it's hard to go wrong with Copags. They hold up well, they have a nice feel and look about them. They're damn good cards.

1 - Dal Negro
2 - Modiano
3 - Kemn
3.5 - Copag

Do a search on Dal Negro and give these cards a look before you make your move. check out this site for great cards reviews:

I find that most people, myself included, prefer bridge size cards. They're whats used in casinos and card rooms for poker.

Lottery Larry 11-27-2005 04:04 PM

I\'ve used both

They play close enough that the much-cheaper Copag price is worth saving.

Here's where I get mine from- I've had good service here

gamepreserve.com

I was looking at a review and it seems that the are another companys version of Copags.

Copag is American and Torcello is Italian if that matters

I just got some wide Kem arrows, regular index from holdempokerchips.com.

I prefer Kem over Copag. For some reason the Copags don't slide on my table. I've even tried Gemaco and nothing slides like Kem.

i always use copag and royal. i like royal better just because the letters/numbers are smaller. but the guys at my homegame like copag more.

Re: kem or copag?

I'm Kem all the way. I've had a problem with my Copag cards cracking and actually breaking during play for seemingly no reason, (2 cards to be exact). My Kems have lasted longer.

Sucks because I actually like the Copag cards just as much as the Kems, but I haven't had a problem with the Kem cards.

Oh look, a fellow Ohioan. Copags are great cards. Be gentle with them and they will last forever.
