Totally Screwed Up AQo

I had started off a 30/60 session tonight badly so for no good reason I limp UTG at one of the tables with A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], it's folded to the CO (let's call him loosish/passivish), only the SB (let's call him loose/reasonably aggro, not really a LAG) and I call.

The flop is 2 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]2 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] and I am thinking that I'll take the c/c, c/c, bet line. However the SB immediately foils that plan by betting out, I call and the CO raises, SB and I call.

Turn is 4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

SB bets, I raise, CO now makes it 3 bets, SB calls, I think for a bit then fold.

River is the 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

It's checked around.

This is a great time for a Tommyesque call and see the showdown line. I don't see any real benefit to the turn raise.

Your lack of early betting costed you chips in the end.

If you raise preflop and he 3-bets, you can call and then check-raise him on the flop. If he 3-bets the flop you know your up against AK and can fold, because if he's playing this wild with AJo you'll be getting his chips soon enough anyways..

The CO would probably raise to get rid of the blinds with AK even if he's not too aggressive, and the SB would probably raise AK with 2 limpers. Since the SB probablyc aps a 2 on the turn, i think you want to showdown here.

-- I think that this is a classic example of Where you'll only get a better hand to call or raise, and a worse hand to fold.
