good or bad push?

villian $ 1,039.00 mixes is up but is generally tight
hero $ 565.00 generally tight aggresive, except the way i played this hand until river, i know the cold calls are weak, interested in comments on river push.

2-4nl
villian utg+1 opens for 13
hero utg+2 call w JJ
3 others call

Flop 5H 5X 2H ($60)

Villian bets 50
Hero calls 50

Turn 8x ($110)
Villian bets 80
Hero calls

River 10H ($270)
Villian bets $60
Hero pushes $422 although I am almost certain I am up against AA or KK. I felt like this was a blocking bet and the third heart would allow me to blow him off the hand.

Thoughts?

That's your first problem. As a general rule, if you suspect you are up against AA or KK, don't plan on bluffing them off their hand, b/c they don't care, they are seeing a showdown. If you suspect someone is capable of big laydowns, then bluffing them is not bad. Seeing as this guy is fairly deepstacked, he might be bluffable, but don't bother.

So basically if this is a good push or bad push is 100% based on the opponent.

I dont like it unless u play ur flush draws so passively, which i dont think u should.

If you had AA or KK would you call here? Doesn't it look like I either slow played a set or caught my flush? or is the overbet an indication of weakness?

I think the overbet looks shady, and I call with AA instantly in this spot.

I would raise preflop with position here. This gives him a chance to re-raise, and act OOP on the flop.

ace-

this is an interesting hand.

If this guy is a total nit you might want to fold the turn. Depends what you think he is doing with TT/99, and his willingness to fire a second barrel with overcards. Against some players you can fold this- he is betting strong into 4 players on the flop and following up on the turn. Looks like a big pair to me. If the river comes a blank, you are probably gonna pay him off some more.

Along the same lines, if you think he is tricky, you can consider raising the flop. If he plays back you are done with the hand.

On the river, I like your read and admire your courage in following through on it. Bet sizing here is a tricky affair- as some posters have mentioned, a push looks like a bluff and might actually lead him to call. It might be a good idea to make more of a "value bet". If it is too small he will curse and "pay you off", so you want a bet that feels like a value bet but that he still can't call (or will only call with hands where he would call a push). Besides having a better "feel" to it, this also saves you a little $ when he calls (assuming he calls with the same hands he is calling a push with). I would make it $300 here.

I like the push. It looks like you were setting him up the whole time. I don't think it looks like a flush as much as possibly a flopped or turned boat. There's so much out there to beat him, I think you look like you want to get paid off for a monster. Easy laydown with KK, well played.
