Boarderline maniac goes allin what to do

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (6 max, 6 handed) converter

Button ($30.8)
Hero ($164.14)
BB ($21.23)
UTG ($48.5)
MP ($26.65)
CO ($76.97)

CO is not exactly a maniac, but he is close to being one. At worst he's got a set, in which case, im still about 43% to win. if hes got top pair or an overpair, im 55%. Is this an easy call? i think so, but im a limit player turned NL, so im not sure if this is right, though the math justifies it

Preflop: Hero is SB with T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. Hero posts a blind of $0.25.
UTG calls $0.50, MP calls $0.50, CO calls $0.50, 1 fold, Hero (poster) completes, BB checks.

Flop: ($2.50) Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (5 players)
Hero bets $2, BB calls $2, UTG calls $2, MP calls $2, CO calls $76.47 (All-In), Hero calls $74.47, BB folds, UTG folds, MP folds.

At worst he's got the nut flush draw. But with that why would he make such a big raise? I think your call was good.

Is this really an easy call? I don't play 6-handed so I am not sure of the aggressiveness factor required, but I would think that the villain has one of the following hands:

Set - you are a 3:2 dog
Nut Flush Draw - you are a 3:2 dog
Two Pair - you are even money
Nut Straight Draw (he holds JT) - you are even money
Pair - you are a 5.5:4.5 favorite

I guess what I don't like is that you are paying $75 to win $87, so the pot is offering you 6:5 for a hand that if it does not improve will most likely be losing (granted the chances that you will improve are good). Am I being too weak, tight?

I am not disputing the call and to be honest I am always hard pressed to not call with an open ended straight flush draw with two cards to come - just not sure how happy I would be watching my chips go in.

This is a very good and informative post.

And I agree, it isn't an easy call.

normally, I would agree with you here.

However, given Hero's description of villain, I think this is easy call.

Yeah, for a normal player i fold this since I will lose in the long run, but this guy was a total douche and I had already decided that if he went allin, I would call. the fact that I considered that he may go allin gives you some idea of his play. He was a nut to whom i gave little respect. Unfortunately, he limped AA and I didnt hit, but it was the right call as I was only up against a pair and was 55% to win.

If this guy is really a maniac I would be scared he has an ace or king high flush draw in which case you are a large underdog.
