Win a Porsche in 2 1/2 years playing 20 hours a week?

I kinda figured this in the Stars FPP per hour thread, but I couldn't get it out of my mind so I thought I would figure it a little more closely.

From that thread, I figured you would earn 360 FPPs an hour if you eight table the \$3/\$6 SH game. If you play 20 hours a week, you would hit SuperNova in 14 weeks.

Now on to some more specific Porsche calculations:

You would hit Platinum in 28 hours, so for the sake of this example, your FPPs would start accumulating for the Porsche 2.5 times faster after one week. (900 FPPs per hour) Which means after 14 weeks, you would have approximately 250,000 FPPs. For the balance of the year you are now earning FPPs 3.5 times faster which means you earn 1,260 FPP per hour, which means you earn another 958,000 FPPs for the balance of the year, This brings your grand total to 1.2 million FPPs per year, 100,000 FPP per month basically, so it would take you 2 1/2 years to win a \$ 60,000 Porsche 8-tabling \$3/\$56 SH for 20 hours a week. (If a person could stand 8 tabling full time, 40+ hours a week, it would be possible to win one in a year!)

Amazing.....

(And please someone correct me if my calculations are way off, as anyone that plays poker with me knows my math skils aren't that great)

Re: Win a Porsche in 2 1/2 years playing 20 hours a week?

When you did your True challenge, did you 8-table shorthanded games? Or did you have full ring mixed in?

8 6-max games is a LOT to handle.

Re: Win a Porsche in 2 1/2 years playing 20 hours a week?

Has anyone done this sort of calculation for playing SNGs?

I'm assuming here that Platinum status racks up FPPs for SNGs at same multiple as for ring games.

Re: Win a Porsche in 2 1/2 years playing 20 hours a week?

O Doyle,

It looks like you are leaving out the multipliers for silver and gold status that you accrue on the way to platinum.

My hungover calculations look like this (assuming 8-tabling \$3-6 short for 360 FPPs/hour at the normal rate):

4.16 hours to hit Silver Status
11 hours to hit Gold Status
28 hours to hit Platinum (agreed)
280 hours to hit Supernova (agreed)

Accrual:

For the first 4 hours of play, 1500 FPPS.
For the next 7 hours, = 2500x1.5 = 3,750 FPPs.
For the next 17 hours = 6000x2 = 12,000 FPPs. (we are now platinum).

For the time we are platinum until we hit supernova (assuming we remain platinum), we get 90,000x2.5 =225,000 FPPs.

We have 242,250 when we hit Supernova.

So yes, your calculations look good. Thanks.

Re: Win a Porsche in 2 1/2 years playing 20 hours a week?

I thought the max number of tables at Stars was 5.

has this changed?

Also - if your calcs are correct then it looks like \$480/wk you are earning (125 wks) or \$24 an hour.

So it's only \$3/hr (or 0.5BB/hr) per table.

Long road to make it to \$60k.

Re: Win a Porsche in 2 1/2 years playing 20 hours a week?

Bob,

It's either 8 or 10 tables now (since Party upped their limit).

"8 6-max games is a LOT to handle."

This is especially true at Stars where the hands come pretty fast i believe (especially on the high-speed tables).

ODoyle was mixing full with short I think while 8-tabling.

Did he also mix limit with no-limit as well?? That's a bit crazy for 8-tabling while super-duper tired.
Action goes a little bit slower at True though.

Re: Win a Porsche in 2 1/2 years playing 20 hours a week?

To Something Clever and MicroBob,

I 8 tabled whatever was avalable at True, so I did play alot of tables short handed even if they were full ring game tables. I also mixed limit and NL.

However,

There is no way I would contemplate doing this, (Official race to see who wins a Porsche first? Who's up for it?)

I acutally lost a little money doing the True challenge, around \$ 300 comes to mind, so to think I could even play breakeven poker playing 8 tables of SH for 40 hours a week would be crazy.

Yea, if someone else wants bragging rights as the first person to win a porsche in less than a year, they can have it, as I think it will take a better man (or woman) than me.

Re: Win a Porsche in 2 1/2 years playing 20 hours a week?

this is one of those insane marathon type things that I will actually NOT be participating in.

A Porche (or other fancy car) doesn't interest me.
I want the major tourney events.

Re: Win a Porsche in 2 1/2 years playing 20 hours a week?

Speaking of races, I think Stars should give a little bonus of some kind to make supernova and have a leaderboard and all that kind of crap.

It would add a little entertainment to January methinks.

Re: Win a Porsche in 2 1/2 years playing 20 hours a week?

Yeah, Stars is definitely faster than Party, especially on the high-speed tables.

I used to get a solid 100 hands per table per hour when I 4-tabled there.

I've found that I can 6-table 6-max profitably if I drop to easy limits like 1/2. But I wouldn't try it in my usual game.

Yea, Bob.

Isn't the state of poker bonuses and incentives fantastic?

To think we are talking about earning 25K a year basically on a part-time basis, and 60K a year full time like its no big deal.

(I'm not saying it is easy to do, in fact someone playing that much full time would deserve every inch of that Porsche, but it is just really unbelievable if you think about it. Playing poker online for an incentive that many people would wish they could earn in one year on their full time job)

This is actually a pretty nifty idea.

i might be into this but I think one marathon is enough for me. But it would be fun to see...and would encourage even more players to rack up those FPP's even faster.

In my figures, I used only an assumption of 75 hands per table per hour, which would make my 4 table example much better if anyone cares to figure that.

I think you guys are on to something here given all the publicity stars got from the gigabet leaderboard challenge. It would be interesting if Stars offered a Ferrari instead of the Porsche for just the FIRST person to hit 3,000,000 FPP's and then revert back to Porsches for 3 mil.

This is actually a pretty nifty idea.

130 weeks X 20 hours X 8 tabling X 60 hands/hour X 0,25\$ rake = 312 000 paid in rake so the Porsche is around 20% rakeback not that bad but i prefer cash buy a nissan 350Z Roadster and play the WSOP for free hehe......

You should be able to do that with the concierge service option. That way you would be able to get a differnt car, like a 911 or Corvette instead of the crappy Cayman S.
