Is this Ebay auction a scam?

he has 248 positive feedback. asked for credit card payment in the auction and then after the auction was over he sent me the following message:

Hi, please pay me a total of $25.50 via paypal as I'm having problems with my 2checkout account. I'll ship the item as soon as payment is confirmed. Thank you.

this is a fairly rare cd player with an optical out, which is why i bought it. i havent seen another one in awhile, so i actually do want it quite a bit, what are the chances this is a scam? if its 50/50 im probably willing to just send him the money anyways. what do you think?

Unlikely its a scam given he has that much positive feedback and it's for $25.

No. It's likely not a scam. The original link to 2checkout.com seems on the up and up. If you're really that concerned, just ask for some sort of escrow setup (I'd be willing to bet that paypal does this for a nominal fee).

yes, i saw the original link was legit. just changing the terms after the fact seemed suspicious to me.
