Pocet Nines is SB

Live event NLHE with 1st place 41k.

Blinds are 50/100. UTG raises to 500. He appears sane.
He has a 2600 stack. All fold to me in the SB. I have a
4100 stack with black Nines.

What is my best play?

There are still 200+ players left. The competition in general is pretty lame. I hate just calling. If I reraise
my whole stack is in jeopordy. If I push and am called it's
the old coin flip or you're up against an overpair. Is
a fold too tight?

Comments appreciated.

bruce, what if you limp here? it may entice the bb to call. only risking 1/10 of your stack, and if the competition is as weak as you think. you should have an advantage anyway. just a thought.

It looks like you have him outstacked by 1500 so I don't really see how you say your stack is at risk.

Since you are in the SB I like to take the postional advantage away from the PFR.

I re-pop to 1200.

He will probably push or fold, and I don't mind folding to a push here.

If he flat calls put him all in on any flop unless it contains a 9.

I hate calling as you will not like most flops.

Folding is *ok*, a little weak, but I tend to overplay 99 so what do I know.

I'm thinking that you are behind or coin flipping here most of the time, and you'll be OOP ATF.

You don't have implied odds to call, and as you mentioned any RR leaves you PC'd.

So the question becomes push or fold. If you push you are likely to only be called by hands that dominate you, unless the guy wants to coin flip. Also factor in the slight possibility that BB wakes up with AA/KK.

Without doing the math I think a fold is in order, especially considering the competition is lame; I'll want to minimize my variance in situations like this.

Stop n go would seem to be pretty good here.

One thing I don't understand: "If I reraise
my whole stack is in jeopordy." - - I think your post says you have him covered.

I meant to say a good chunk of my stack would be in jeopordy.

Thanks for the replies. I meant to say most of my stack would
be in jeopordy if I pushed and was called or if he went all in.

I studied the situation briefly and ultimately folded. Calling
and being OOP is unattractive. I felt if I pushed on a good
day it's a coinflip and on my bad days I'm against an overpair.

Perhaps I'm weak tight, but that's what I did. I prefer being the initial aggressor and I don't think Nines are
strong enough to reraise or push with and risk losing most of my chips.
