Stud/8 - flush on 5th

Because I was getting killed, I've been on a fairly long break from stud/8 (esp. on Stars) but their 2-for-1 FPP promotion got me back in a .50/1 game. Lost another 20BB in 30min. No reads on opponents.

I probably should have bet 4th. I called 5th to keep people in.
Auto-fold 6th?

Re: Stud/8 - flush on 5th

I think this is definitely worth a bet on fourth. No one has shown any strength. You've got a nice draw, might as well bet it and charge people if they want to stay in.

Im not sure about my thoughts on fifth yet. I think it is pretty likely that seat 3 does not have a low draw because he didn't bet fourth. That being said, I put him on trips or two pair. Since everyone else is drawing nearly dead besides the 3 seat I'm not sure if it is better to keep the other players in or not. I would probably just raise myself, but not raising has some interesting posibilities. Maybe someone who rocks at stud hi can chime in with their thoughts on raising fifth or not.

I would definitely bet fourth after the field had checked to me. I think I'd raise fifth. Maybe someone comes along for the ride. You don't know if you don't raise. When the guy hits open trips on fifth, it may just be time to throw in the towel. If he isn't full, he's probably got a low draw, in which case you might only get half of a small pot. It seems odd that he'd check a low draw and then bet out when he paired. Seems like he had two pair on fifth and has now filled. Also, if he isn't full, he can still fill on the river. Finally, he can see your four clubs. If folding on sixth is wrong, it ain't wrong by much.

this is a classic example of how passive play gets you into trouble - if you bet 4th and bet 5th, your decisions become much easier and you possibly win it on 5th. - given the way the hand was played I strongly advocate folding 6th because of smallish pot.

i meant raise 5th - but you get the idea .. then you'll have to pay it off of course due to the pot odds.

4th:I bet.If seat 3's hand is not good enough to bet in that position, mine must be.

5th:Interesting.My thoughts here were exactly the same as Mscags.

Re: Stud/8 - flush on 5th

Raise on 5th,

Fold on 6th.

At least it's only $50/1. You could have been playing for real money.
