LCD TVs
 

It's about time to replace this 20 year old flicker-box on the extreme right (and the big ugly wooden thing it's in).

I am thinking LCD, maybe 32-42", and hopefully not much more than around $2K.

I don't need a built in tuner or speakers. I don't want any huge projection type unit as I am in an apartment I don't want to stay very long, and would hate to have to move the thing.

Anyone have any suggestions or caveats? There are so many different brands and models out there. [img]/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img]

I would get this bitch right here: samsung 40"

For $2,000 retail, your options are going to be pretty damn limited. No way you are going to find a 40" for around 2k, but instead most likely 4.5k.

polaroid makes a pretty good 32" for about 1500.

i bought one for my gf and while the picture isnt quite as sharp as the aquos or the samsung, its very good for the price.
i think they may make one slightly bigger as well.

i'm currently in the market as well, and amongst interesting things i've found is a $2300 + about $200 shipping for the 37" sharp aquos tvs on ebay. they retail (best buy) from 3500 to 3999.

I'll second the sentiment for the Sharp Aquos line. I was looking around a few months ago, and, while I didn't end up purchasing any TV at the time, I found that the Aquoses looked by far the best to my eye. Maybe when I start winning money at, umm, cribbage again, I'll pick one up.

LCD DLP's are a great value - something like this.

only 13 inches deep and about 70 pounds, so it's not a monster. everybody raves about the picture quality (better than a regular LCD).

much less expensive too. if you don't need to hang it on a wall, then it's what I would go with.

i dunno, but my bf & i just bought a panasonic 42" plasma for $2700.
it better be awesome! from the reviews i've read, it should be.

I don't need wall mount. I will need to get a stand and I have about 5 components to put in there.

Saving about $1000 is definitely making DLP look attractive.
