worst fold ever

this has to be the worst possible fold in the history of poker. if youre going to call his raise with 55 and get a board like J 7 5 2 NO STRAIGHT/DRAWS or FLUSH/DRAWS this is an easy push/easy call push river. If he has JJ 77 so be it. Just tell yourself "gosh darn", get over it, and rebuy.

i don't understand why people keep bringing up the fact that there are no draws as evidence that he has the best hand.

because they mean straights or flushes. or they don't understand poker.

i didn't comment on thehand because everyone said what i wanted to say.

btw, i would usually assume this is overpair "seeing where it is at." given that, how to proceed? call turn, value bet riv? call turn, check riv? i would usually b e inclined to first but if i'm the opponent with overpair and myu opponent calls minraise and checks, i might be inclined to put him on top pair and value bet my AA (i am an aggro value bettor)... that to me is more interesting, what do you guys thing? player/value bet frequency dependent?

I could easily see a good player do this with AA and check behind on the river. Of course, he might do this with JJ 77 too.

[/ QUOTE ]why in gods name would a good plyr check behind on the river w/ AA?

I was the villain and was disappointed you folded since I had J7s.

But seriously, there is no way this is a fold when you are both so shortstacked.

At the time you folded, the pot was about 1500 and it cost you about 900 (effectively) to call. I'm not saying you should have called. I have no idea or opinion. But I did notice that these numbers had not come up yet in this thread.

I've caught myself lots of time folding when facing a big bet without realizing in the moment that if I had stopped and really taken into account the amount that I had bet, and the amount that he had called before raising me out of the pot, I would have realized that the price I was actually getting was better than the price it felt like I was getting.
