online 5/10 game 6 handed
folds to SB, who i know very little about but he seems passive. SB completes, I check 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].

Eh, I think I like a check through here. Give me a better kicker with my 8 and I'd lean towards betting, but we're saving a bet vs an 8, T, or J. I'd only bet this if I knew the guy to call-down with A-hi.

I check. There's no way we can expect to win > 55% of the time when we are called here against an unknown imo.

Your only hope would be to get a better 8 to fold. I don't really see that happening.
