turn checkraise--method or madness?

Bellagio 30-60 game. Good game, not too aggressive. I'm dealt K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] in an early position. I open with a raise. Only the cutoff (slightly obese woman, but relatively unknown to me) and the small blind calls (73 or 74 years old, she's a regular in the 30-60 game; a bit loose preflop, but plays OK postflop).

Flop is:

K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].

Checked to me and I bet. Cutoff raises, and SB calls cold, and I call.

River is:

[K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]] 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].

I check, cutoff bets, SB folds, and I raise. Comments?

Cutoff called the raise.

River was A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].

I bet, and after some thought cutoff folded. She flashed the Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] as she mucked--obviously she had K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].

I felt this "bluff" was my only chance. The ace on the river was a nice scare card for me.

I fold this preflop. I want to be in at least mid position before I start open raising this.

I agree. This is a very tough hand to play out of position. Even if I open-raise with it in MP I don't exactly love it.

I would rather bet the turn, after calling the flop, and if she raises, 3 bet bluff/raise here instead of checkraise/bluff.

does anyone else bet the turn instead of c/ring.
