Beginner questions on structure of stud/8

I'm not sure if I should put this in the beginner forum or not, but as I've never posted there I feel more comfortable posting here.

We play stud/8 occasionally in my home game, but I've never been quite sure about the structure. We've just followed the structure of regular stud -- low card brings it in and on subsequent rounds high board leads. Also on 4th a paired door card can bet double. Is this how it's played in the casinos? I starting reading super system last night, and there they say the opposite is done (high card brings it in, low board leads later on). So I thought I had just been doing it wrong. But reading some of the posts on stud/8 it seems that low card does bring it in. Please help,

Morgan

My stud/8 experience is limited to one room (and play money on Paradise), but I believe that this is more or less universal. You have it mostly right. Low card brings it in, high board leads on all subsequent betting round. Unlike high-only stud, though, you cannot bet double on an open pair on fourth street. Hope that helps.

Super/System discusses the game with no qualifier, which is a very different game.

Thanks Andy B ...

and thanks for pointing out my mistake on super/system. I wonder how far I would have gotten before I realized they weren't talking 8 or better?! Take care,

Morgan
