Fold the flop?

Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is UTG with J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
<font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, <font color="#666666">3 folds</font>, SB calls, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>.

Flop: (5 SB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
SB checks, <font color="#CC3333">Hero bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">SB raises</font>, Hero calls.

Ive looked over this hand and seen that that to call the flop I would need at least 6 outs. Can I safely assume the c/r is a Q most of the time? If that is the case I have about 2.5 for the A, 1 for the BD straight and 1 for the BD flush giving me under 5.

Am I correct? I need to avoid calling these odd bets here and there. They do mount up

Re: Fold the flop?

Headsup a CR can mean a lot of things, not only a Q. Could be a flush draw, a 9, a 3, straight draw. On 1/2 its probably a Q most of the time but I m not sure about that. I d call this as you have a backdoor flush draw and backdoor straight draw. You probably have enough outs even if he has a Q.

Re: Fold the flop?

folding to CR everytime here would he a big mistake. reads make a big difference in the correct strategy in these heads up situations. against most opponents, and this board, i would call the CR and re-evaluate on the turn. if i dont improve, im gone against an unknown.

nobody likes this but it works for me...

I 3 bet. I'd say 90% of the time I'm getting to the showdown for 3 small bets on the flop.

(this is only if i wanna call the flop c/r)

Not a bad line at all if you're in position (as hero is here).

Without the backdoor flush draw, though, this is a fold.
