Quick numbers check...

I just started 5/10 this month and so far I'm 18k hands in. First 10k went well, about 1.2bb/100. Now the last 8k have been steadily downhill. I'm down 80bb from my peak, bringing by bb/100 to a measly .27.

I fear no variance. I laugh in its face. But party 5-10 has a lot of solid players, and playing from the blinds seems to be a big part of the game. I've been hitting the books and the boards, but I seem to be steadily bleeding out and I wonder if I need to make some game adjustments since better table selection isn't an option.

For the 5/10 ers. Do you guys get up from tables that are 18-21% vp$ip? That seems to be the standard, with the odd 24%.

So here are my numbers:

VP$IP 14.22
PFR% 7.14
Post Flop Agg: 2.91
Folded BB to steal 72.45
Won $ at SD 57.16
Went to SD: 28.11
(edit to add att to steal: 21.44.
My W$SD for steals is 44.68, and 60.29 Ww/oSD)
This is over 18k hands at 5/10

Help. Me. Help. Myself.

This is the second time I've done this. Sorry.

Wait! This is in the right forum! You're in the wrong forum.

I am familiar with the linked post, but I'm more interested in the guys that play the 5/10, because small deviations in play make a bigger difference in that game, compared to even slightly lower stakes.

Your sample size isn't big enough. My sample size isn't big enough. Variance is a bitch at 5/10. For the past 10K hands I've hit a peak low of 300BB, but now I'm only at negative 120BB. I'm well on my way to recovery but even after 10K hands I'm still down some change. On the flip side I ran at 2.6BB/100 for my first 25K hands at 5/10. Now my total win rate is well under 2. Whatever, it happens.

As for your game selection it could be better.

Play more hands preflop, RAISE much more preflop (I think 10-14% is good)

Work on your blind play and increase that post flop aggression, get it up to around 4.

As far as that goes, I probably should have left out everything but my stats, which are similar from the 150k+ hands I have at other limits.

Thank you gentlemen for your suggestions. I am consciously applying them to my play.

Your stats are even tighter than mine. You fold too much!
Besides you need to steal more, that's a big part of the reason your pfr is way too low.

Post some positional stats and vpip sb.

Positional Stats:
VP$IP PFR
Button 17.45 10.57
1off: 17.1 10.87
2of: 13.46 7.97
4off: 13.54 8.96
4off: 12.19 6.96
5off: 12.17 6.14
6off: 10.87 5.2
7off: 11.28 5.71
BB: 13.72 4.68
SB: 18.48 3.95

These numbers are more curcumspect because it is a small sample size, but they look to be about how I normally play. The difference has been in 5/10 many tables are 8-11% PFR table avg, so I find myself folding more to raisers with hands like KJo and Q10o
