what is it about the human mind that forces us to touch the pot for ourselves even though someone tells us it is hot. also, pretend you go into the living room of your house and your friends are all trying to figure out what is wrong with the television. the first thing you do is try to put it on yourself - even though it is obvious that it isnt going to work, its as if the human mind has to start at point A???

Distrust and ego to some extent too. I think most people are morons so if they tell me the door is broken, I need to make sure they aren't being stupid and it actually is broken.

I worked at McD's in high school (shut up). Once morning, I opened, and I couldn't remember if I turned on the fryers yet, so I stuck my finger in it to see. Yup, it was already on.

I fix stuff for a living. If I took everyones word for what was wrong I'd still be trying to fix [censored] from 6mo. ago.

The hot stove thing I dunno. When someone tells me the stove is hot, I say "okay."

I stuck my entire hand in a deep fryer when I worked at Hardees 15 years ago. Of course I had put 4 coats of egg batter + fried chicken coating on my hand first.

Looking back though it was a pretty retarded thing to do.
