Is there a way in AOL IM to...
I've got like 20 buddies for whom I simply have no idea who they are...I added them a while ago, and I've now simply got too many buddies to remember screenames for.
Is there a way to change how a buddy's screename appears in your "buddies" list, so that when "Rounder2433" or whatever IM's me to say what's up, I don't have to suffer thru the embarassment of asking who they are again? In my naive IM days, i thought i could just edit the screename in my buddy list, so i changed it to "Jim", only to find out that doing so actually changes the recipient to whoever selected the IM name "Jim". |

The new AIM Triton has a feature like this. Its called friendly names. It is under view on the Buddy list. You can right click on your buddy, edit buddy, and put in a First name or Last name which can be anything you want.

right click on the name, there's an option to add a comment for a person (you might need to upgrade your AIM client if you haven't upgraded in a long time).
it's very useful, especially if you talk to a lot of random people on aim or frequently use aim drunk. |

get gaim (google it), they handle nick names very well, plus it's just a better client.
